Okay, it might just be kymaera who will answer this one, but I figure if I post instead of emailing him, the rest of the board can have the information, too.

What are some good cites to preorder figures from? There's one that I'm interested in that's coming out in January--how does payment work? When the figure actually ships, or before?

Also, I'm thinking of getting one for myself and one for a friend. Are there any cites that let you preorder two, or is there a limit?

The two that I use most often are:
Hobby Link Japan
Hobby Search

Here are some others that I've heard are good or have used less frequently:

Import figure retailers:
Akadot Retail
Amenbo
Animaxis
CD Japan and their Preorder page
Hobby World
Kicks Hobby
Plajapan
Play Asia
Toy Mandala
Yes Asia

Domestic figure retailers:
AnimeNation
Big Bad Toy Store
Boise River Collectibles
Circle Red
Entertainment Earth
eStarland
Japan Max
JRS Toyworld
Kid Nemo
Robert's Anime Corner Store
Right Stuf
Toylet
Toys Logic
Twin Moons Anime
Wizard Universe
Wizzywig Collectibles

As for your other questions, these are general answers..check the site you pick for specifics:

Usually payment is when the figures are released, not when the order is placed.
Limitations on quantity depend on the run of the figure and the retailer. For example, Hobby Search will often limit things to 1 per customer, but you're almost guaranteed to get that one. Hobby Link Japan won't limit, but they will sometimes sell out, even if you preorder.
Another note is that on the domestic retailers, the figures will sometimes be canceled with little to no notice if the distributer decides not enough orders have been placed to merit the release. This is much rarer for Japanese releases.
Also, in either case, the release dates will often slip. The January date will usually end up being a Feb or Mar release. It's especially bad for domestic releases...those can easily slip half a year.

Lol...might be awhile before I buy another.

The only figures I had previous to this were the small Sentimental Graffiti figures someone sold me (because he had extras):

Apparently they were boxed at random and you couldn't tell which one you had until you opened the box.

I also had a Gundam Seed Destiny figure that my mom sent me a year ago after she started working at a Japanese department store in Hawaii. It came in a small purplish box that says "Ban Dai" on the outside of it. The figure I got is "Meyrin Hawke" in blue casual clothes. I haven't seen any of the anime though.

It's kinda funny that I just got through preordering several new figures from RAC.

The one I had to get was from Seto no Hanayome

That's very cute. I like that. thumbup.gif

I enjoyed that show. Sometimes the humor didn't match my taste, but then other times I was rolling on the floor from laughter. I think my favorite character on the show was Akeno, but all the characters had their moment to shine in the series.
