I've had my anicyo account ever since it opened. As you probably know they require a 6 USD fee monthly to keep a premium account. In the last six months (maybe more) I've not found anything I really want to buy on the site and it seems like they don't update as often. Initially they had great stuff, some of it disappeared without winning bidders, now it's just the same old ones... It's 72 bucks a year just to keep an account. I'm finding it hard to justify if I don't really see anything I like but at the same time I'm afraid I might in fact find something there -eventually-. I'm torn. Help me.

I've been wondering the same thing myself.

In fact I won a sketch set there (I've won one auction there altogether), but I haven't even felt like requesting shipping for it even though I paid for it.

I'm not sure if it's worth it. My chances of getting anything from there is so low.

I feel the same but I voted for keep it even though I feel that you should forget about it at the same time.....

But I know that kenshinkenji really wanted to bid on kenshin cel at anicyo but since he could not really set up his account on time and since the seller sold it before the end he did not even have a chance to bid on it..... So I would keep it for a case something like this.......

Woah! $72 a year!

$6 a month sounded alot better!

Maybe we could share one account and split the annual fee?

$72 per year wasn't much when I was buying $140+ sketch sets on a regular basis, but now that I'm not it feels like a hole eating in my wallet. tongue_002.gif

Not sure if the company I work for will go bankrupt next year either since the company's stock has fallen 86% in the past year and a half.

I could still spend a lot on sketch sets if I ran across something I really wanted, but I don't see much of interest these days. There are too many rough rough drawings around lately and not enough layouts, genga and high quality dougas. It sucks. sad.gif

I usually prefer to avoid simple roughs if I can. It'd seem like they'd be easier for an out-of-work former studio employee to create.

...or maybe even a non-employee: laugh.gif

Not sure if I'd ever bid on Konatas even if I ever ran across them. It'd really have to stand out for whatever reason.

The only Konatas I've ever seen have been those hanken and magazine roughs that came out awhile back.

Roughs, roughs, everywhere there's roughs... rotating.gif wacko.gif

LOL. You guys crack me up! tongue_002.gif

Roughs are hard... I prefer layouts and nice gengas, dougas... Sadly sometimes roughs are all that we can find. onigiri_crying_deeply.gif

As for the anicyo account, I'm giving them a few more months. If I don't see anything, then I'll close.

RF I don't know about sharing an account. Certainly it can be done but I would think anicyo would frown at the practice. I did however help out somebody in the past because anicyo was new but nowadays I turn down such request because after I thought about it, it's probably not a good practice.

A week ago I ended my subscription to Anicyo.

The monthly fee was fine when I signed up, but because I only bid one time in ten months and because money is tight these days in this economic environment I had to end it.

With the current mediocre exchange rate, the subscription fee was going for $6.75 a month which is $81 a year. Eighty one dollars a year was nothing when I was getting more workhours, but now that I'm not, even that small amount was eating a hole in my wallet. sad.gif

Well now this is interesting. I got an e-mail today from Anicyo saying that they're going to be shipping me the item I won in July 2008. Lol thumbup.gif

EDIT:

Wow...3,470 yen to ship sketches. I hope there's a lot of sketches in there. O_O

The auction description for number of sketches was unclear.
